It is an Autonomous Body established on 01st January 1966 (50 years ago) under provisions of the Maharashtra Act No. 41 of 1965. Its main headquarter is in Pune. In every academic year, MSBSHSE board organizes the HSC and SSC Examinations via its nine Divisional Boards located at Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Amravati, Nashik, Ratnagiri, and Latur. There are more than 20000 schools (SSC) and 7000 Higher Secondary Schools/ Junior colleges in the entire state affiliated with this board. Annually, it hosts this examination twice a year in the form of Mains & Supplementary to promote students for higher level studies.
